The Whitegate Way

The Whitegate Way is an ideal traffic-free route from Winsford to Cuddington, near Delamere Forest. The Way itself is suitable for walking, cycling and horse riding, and for pushchairs and wheelchairs. The Whitegate railway line carried salt for almost 100 years, from the mines along the west bank of the River Weaver up to Cuddington where it joined the Chester - Manchester line.
The line finally closed in 1966 and today you can enjoy a picnic at Whitegate Station or visit the cafe, the only station along the way. Shady wooded cuttings contrast with sunny open embankments, offering spectacular views over the patchwork fields towards the Peckforton Hills.

Then on to Chester, a Roman city founded in 79 AD and still surrounded by some of the best-preserved fortifications and ancient city walls in Britain; many historians think the Romans intended Chester to be the capital of Britain! Look out for Chester's iconic 'Roodee' racecourse - dating back to the 16th century, it's the oldest still in use, before back over the city of Liverpool to land.

Flyboarding on the River Weaver - Frodsham

Just a few short years ago flyboarding was a futuristic dream; thanks to modern technology and innovative adrenaline junkies, that's no longer the case! Head to one of three brilliant locations and try the sport described as 'Aqua Man meets Iron Man' with the guidance of an experienced instructor. Begin by hopping into a self-explanatory dry suit, whilst getting an intro to how the nozzles and equipment work, before feet are safely strapped to said nozzles out on the water. Then it's time for jets of water to blast out, propelling the nozzles up to nine metres in the air! The height is controlled by the rider together with the instructor, and as they find their feet and gain confidence it could even be time to try some acrobatics. Unforgettable.
